At Dovetail, every product is built with real work in mind. It’s tested, reviewed and refined down to the smallest details. Co-Founder and Product Designer Sara DeLuca helps lead that process, shaping each collection through wear testing, fit panels and firsthand feedback from working women.

So when it comes to spring favorites, Sara knows exactly what she’s reaching for and why.

For Spring 2026, Sara and the Dovetail design team drew inspiration from time spent outdoors.

“We were going for washed-down and weathered lighter colors this season,” Sara says. “Terracotta is a visual taste of summertime: repotting plants, warm evenings and mountain hikes.”

That inspiration carries across the entire collection. Rather than overly polished or trend-driven colors, Spring 2026 leans into tones and textures grounded in nature.

With breathable fabrics, softened washes and lightweight utility pieces, the collection was designed to keep women comfortable through hotter working conditions.

Here are some of the pieces Sara has been wearing on repeat this spring:

GO TO™ Pant and Short in Terracotta

The GO TO™ Pant and Short also debut in the new Terracotta colorway this spring, one of the standout shades of the season.

Warm without feeling overly bright, Terracotta reflects the collection’s earthy direction while highlighting the utility-driven details that make the GO TO™ such an everyday staple. Built from a comfortable stretch canvas with reinforced knees, articulated shaping, multiple utility pockets and a dedicated tool loop, the silhouette is designed to move easily between work, errands and weekends outdoors.

GO TO™ Tank in Terracotta

Paired with the wide-leg is another staple Sara has been reaching for nonstop this season: the GO TO™ Tank Top.

“It’s turned into my new springtime essential,” she says.

Lightweight, versatile and easy to layer, the tank was designed for long hot days when mobility and breathability matter most. Whether worn on its own in the garden or layered under outerwear on cooler days, it’s one of those pieces that quickly earns a permanent spot in rotation.

One of Sarah’s most-worn styles this season is the Old School Wide Leg Mineral Wash Jeans in Sunbaked Copper.

“The mineral-wash wide-leg is so fun,” Sarah says. “I have the Copper and love the color.”

The relaxed silhouette brings ease and movement while still holding up for real work, making it an ideal transition piece for warmer weather.

Performance Work Gloves

One long-awaited favorite this spring? Dovetail’s Performance Work Gloves.

“I’m using them every weekend in the garden,” Sara says. “Best blackberry clearing gloves ever.”

Designed for grip, durability and dexterity, the gloves are built for messy, demanding outdoor work. The gloves are the kind of gear you don’t fully appreciate until you absolutely need it.

Inspired by Wear Testers

Many of Dovetail’s best ideas start with conversations with the women actually wearing the gear every day.

Author, journalist and garden designer Kier Holmes brought a thoughtful perspective to functional dressing shaped by life in the Bay Area’s shifting climate. As a longtime Dovetail wear tester, her insights helped inform a collection grounded in versatility, comfort and everyday utility.

Holmes is the author of Designing the Lush Dry Garden and The Garden Refresh, with work featured in Gardenista, Sunset and other print and digital publications.

“In our talks, she has long thought about the perfect warm-weather work wardrobe,” Sara says. “Even specific styles like a skort she could wear on her nursery days as a landscape designer.”

Those real-world conversations continue to shape Dovetail's future products, from functional details to silhouettes, fabrics and color choices.

“Our wear testers often plant the seeds that then take form in our collections,” Sara says.

A Peek at Fall 2026

While spring is just getting started, Sara already has her eye on what’s ahead.

“Speaking of the wide-leg, we have a new saddle brown version coming,” she says. “We also have our first-ever sweater, and we can’t wait for customers to try it.”

Inspired by vintage military surplus work sweaters, the upcoming knit promises warmth, durability and “all the attitude.”

However, fall can wait. For now, spring is here, and Sara’s favorites are already hard at work.
