What does a day in your work life look like?
I love my job! Many days, it involves me getting dirty, sweaty, fully exhausted—mentally and physically—by the end of the shoot. My main focus is outdoor lifestyle, sports like climbing and mountain biking, and active lifestyle.
My days very much depend on the job. Most of it revolves around working with models and setting scenes to look natural and intriguing. My goal is always to photograph my clients’ products in such a way that will spark interest in their desired market.
What made you start doing the amazing things that you do?
When I was 27, I took a massive risk in life. I stepped away from the security of a good but unfulfilling job to follow my dreams in hopes of achieving that mysterious work-life balance. I feel grateful, because 6 years later, I am able to do what I love and call it my job.
Did you complete any training? If not, how did you learn your trade/skill?
Self-taught. I'm really good at asking questions when I need to.
What did you want to be when you were growing up, or a little kid?
Photographer
What scares you?
Falling while rigged durning climbing shoots, and dropping the ball with my business.
How would you encourage other women who want to strike out on their own?
I have learned to not be afraid of asking questions, and hearing NO. Go 100% for the clients you want. Fly out of your birdcage. Birds are designed to soar the skies. If your soul tells you to fly, do it! I'm not saying that if you take this step it’ll be easy. There willbe many days of stress and tears, but if you want it bad enough, you can have it.
If your dreams don’t scare you, then they aren’t big enough. Go for what you want and give it everything you've got.
What are you doing when you’re not working hard?
Free diving, climbing, fly fishing, or spinning fire.
Do you have any special projects or cool things you want people to check out?
My outdoor lifestyle photos will be all over the Dovetail Workwear website and catalog and on a large majority of Lodge Cast Irons 2022 packaging.
