Sara DeLuca—Dovetail Co-founder & Design Maven
"When Dovetail came along, I was ready. This brand is here to disrupt the workwear market and I'm honored to help build products that can do just that."
Innovative, stylish, fine-tuned. Uncompromising. Beloved. Yes, we're talking about Dovetail pants—and also the product designer-in-chief who builds them, Sara DeLuca. Some people wear their heart on their sleeve, but Sara's is in every stitch of our top-to-toe apparel line. Her love of craft threads through our designs. Her passion for fairness binds our business practices to the products we make. From the supply chain to the women who field test our prototypes, Sara seeks integrity, and ensures we reflect the same at every stage of the production process.
Design was a slow burn kind of love for Sara. She pursued languages and politics in college, graduating from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. Her interest in international trade led Sara to The Gap, and that would change everything. She spent years deeply immersed in the world of apparel, traveling the world to factories and mills. After working with groundbreaking designers in her industry, Sara dreamed of making her mark: bringing her nose for quality, her commitment to ethical business practices, and her knowledge of international production to women's workwear. When Kyle and Kate designed her garden and began chatting about their ideal work pant, Sara could see they were cut from the same cloth: a natural fiber, performance-enhancing, seriously good-looking-looking cloth! The rest is our company's history...
You can find Sara knee-deep in textiles, typically wearing an original sample of the Maven Slim: "The thread colors are wrong, they've been patched a few times, and the rivets don't match. But this fabric wore in so beautifully."
