You may be tempted to call these Shortalls "cute." We are too. But in a low whisper, so they don't hear us. Because they're serious. Swiss Army Knife serious. Compact, but packed with function. Based on their big sis, the Freshley Overalls, these ultra-lightweight hemp shortalls have a million nested pockets (including our famous Twine Hole™), plus a hammer loop. All tucked into a streamlined, shorty-pants silhouette. Yep, it's a lot in a little. But now we're going to duck our heads, all humble-like, pretending it's no biggie...


This hemp/cotton blend fabric is our lightest weight fabric for overalls. Made for hot, sweaty weather and hot, sweaty work. For more on this fabric, check out the Fabric & Care tab.

An Oeko-Tex and WRAP-certified facility, Foison is truly being the change we want to see in the garment world. Props too to Mother Nature for giving us hemp, the fiber that keeps on giving. Hemp requires very little water to produce and is so naturally smart it could probably do your taxes.

This fabric has been blessed by the power of hemp. Tough by nature, hemp is a radically strong yet biodegradable fiber with so many natural talents: it's super breathable, wicks away sweat, repels stinkiness, and just feels so damn good on the skin.

You got 'em dirty, now get 'em clean.

  • Turn inside out.
  • Wash cold.
  • Hang dry.
  • If you must tumble, tumble low to damp dry.
We get it's tempting to wash those dirty overalls in hot water and tumble dry the hell out of them. But like any high-quality tool, this one will last longer with TLC. Heat messes with our special stretch sauces and secret weatherizing potions. And it can shrink, warp, and otherwise damage the fine fabrics that make Dovetail Workwear sturdy, comfortable, and tough on the job. So for a long life, wash cold, and hang dry or tumble low. The planet will thank you too.

Needs better tool pockets

I'm 5'8 160, with muscular thighs and butt, I fit in size 8 perfect. They do relax quite a bit after a few wears would definitely recommend buying a well fit size and letting them stretch.

Tool pockets are very loose and delicate, there's no reinforcement on hemp fabric for them so my gardening tools are punching through. There is also no hole at bottom of tool pockets for dirt to escape. Neither side tool pockets are not deep enough for tools to not fall out, would be nice to have at least one the was deeper for gardening knife, pruners or box cutter. With all the being said, I do love the material for the heat right now!

Pockets!

These are my new favorite shorts. Super comfy, plenty of pockets. Great for all the things I do, and light enough in weight and color to keep me cool.

Lightweight but tough.

I have worn these several times now stacking firewood. They are cool but tough. I plan on purchasing another pair.

Never taking these off

New go-to for the summer. How can a utility fabric be scrumptous and soft? Amazing feel, super comfy great fit. I'm 5'1" and the leg length doesnt make me feel like a troll.
